4 Upcoming Electric SUVs That Are Already Spied In India

Over the next few years, the Electric SUV market will experience significant growth as manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota, and others prepare to make a significant impact. A number of Electric SUVs are scheduled to go on sale in 2024; below is a list of the vehicles that have already been observed in testing.

  1. Maruti Suzuki eVX: The concept Suzuki eVX had its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo earlier this year. A further developed version of the idea was on display at the Japan Mobility Show. The brand’s first electric SUV has also been seen undergoing testing in India; it is expected to make its public debut in late 2024 and go on sale in 2025. Its stated range is more than 550 kilometers.
  2. Mahindra XUV.e8 & BE.05: In December 2024, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will make its formal debut in India, and in October 2025, the BE.05 will follow. The former will be built around the XUV700, while the latter will compete with the planned Tata Curvv EV and be supported by a special skateboard EV architecture. It is claimed that the range of both electric SUVs is more than 500 km.
  3. Hyundai Creta EV: A while back, an electric drivetrain was tested in India using the body of the current Hyundai Creta. Although it’s unclear at this time if the locally made EV would be built on the Creta or a brand-new skateboard platform, Hyundai has stated that it intends to join the zero-emission market in the near future, so there’s a good chance that a midsize e-SUV will be introduced.
  4. Tata Curvv EV: Last year, Tata Motors unveiled the Curvv and Avinya EV concepts. Similar to the other stated models, Curvv’s close-to-production version made its premiere at the 2023 Auto Expo and has since been seen testing numerous times on public roads. The Tata Curvv SUV coupe will be on sale initially in electric form, with the ICE variant following shortly after.

One of the major releases for the domestic maker in 2019 is the Curvv. Both the Punch EV and the Harrier EV are upcoming vehicles. The electric Curvv is expected to have a 500 km or more driving range on a single charge, and other battery options may be available.
