Automotive Modelling and Simulation Engineer

The Automotive Modelling and Simulation Engineer handles all aspects involved in the design of our quality products with a laser focus on driveline components. This is a position concentrating on our chassis and driveline systems and infusing new technologies into these products for our EV and ICE chassis.

Position Duties:
Candidates for consideration will focus on developing plant and control models for emerging vehicle variants such as battery electric, series and parallel hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles. The successful candidate will integrate models into advanced SIL simulations, correlate operation with prototype hardware, analyze operation of the full vehicle system in simulation and work closely with a team to increase simulation efficiency by employing software automation.
- Develop electrical and mechanical plant and control models of vehicle subsystem components in various levels of fidelity.
- Tune/optimize/modify powertrain and chassis related plant models to achieve required level of plant model behavior.
- Integrate and configure models, interfaces, and simulation tools to create complete vehicle SIL simulations while adhering to interface standards.
- Develop tests, analysis, and debug methods for SIL simulation systems to achieve correct operation and assess fidelity.
- Work closely with HIL and Software Automation team members to increase efficiency of simulation tools and methods.
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive / Computer Engineering
- 3+ experience utilizing models to develop and verify mixed hardware & embedded software systems.
- 3+ year of Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow. This may include academic experience.
- 3+ years programming background (C, C++, Python)
- Must be skilled at working in large team environments and interfacing with technical experts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Automotive / Computer Engineering or Controls related field
- 5+ years of experience in automotive mechatronic simulation
- 3+ years of (combined) version control and automation (ClearCase, AccuRev, GitHub, Jenkins)
- Experience in embedded controls in electrified vehicle systems, driver assist technologies
- Experience with hands-on software testing and problem solving in simulation, hardware in the loop systems, and prototype vehicles
- Experience with CAN networks and tools (CANalyzer, CANape, ATI Vision, etc.)
- Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical analysis skills and the ability to create new solutions
- Initiative, resilience, a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous learning
