CAD - Dimensional Management Engineer – Interior/Exterior

We’re currently searching for a CAD designer specialist to join our team, help us grow and scale, and continue our tradition of success. The CAD Designer handles all aspects involved in the design of our quality products with a laser focus on driveline components. This is a position concentrating on our chassis and driveline systems and infusing new technologies into these products for our chassis.

Candidates that possess technical knowledge of vehicles, options and specifications are highly preferred  

Location:

Onsite at New Philadelphia, Ohio

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop locators for Cab Interior Trims/Exterior Trims components and subsystems
  • Develop Build/Assembly Sequence for Interior/Exterior parts
  • Conduct 1D, 2D and 3D dimensional variation analysis to support Gap/Flush Tolerances and assembly clearances
  • Develop Craftsmanship Section Target Books for Interior/Exterior Systems
  • Recommend locator/tolerance changes to meeting gap targets
  • Develop pre-GD&T drawings for all interior and exterior parts
  • Word with CAD Designers to complete Interior/Exterior GD&T Drawings
  • Review GD&T Drawings with suppliers for Checking fixture design/development
  • Expert in 1D, 2D stack-up, and 3D dimensional variation analysis
  • Expert in GD&T & Tolerance Stack up Analysis
  • Expert in GD&T Standard preferred ASME Y14.5
  • Hand-on experience with Creo and Windchill software
  • Hands-on Experience in variation analysis software CAA V5/Multi-CAD
  • Basic understanding of Kinematics
  • Basic understanding of CAD and Design for Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of jigs & fixtures used in Body Area preferred
  • Interact with suppliers and cross-functional teams to review part tolerances, review DVA outcomes, and drive design changes to meet Gap/flush targets
  • Support other members of the Engineering department, and check design work to verify layout, fit, form, function, materials, specifications, and other details/documents as required.
  • Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. Comfortable with complex problem-solving and rapidly changing priorities
  • Comfortable in high-pressure environments during rapid ramp-up periods (as is the case during next six months)

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field desired. Equivalent education and experience required.
  • Experience in product development in automotive/heavy truck cab interior/exterior systems required
  • 2+ years of DVA experience working with automotive/truck or heavy equipment design required, Class 7/8 truck chassis highly desired.
  • 3-D CAD proficiency required; 2+ years CREO experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required
  • Experience with Interior/Exterior Trim Design/Development

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Strong technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
  • Recognize the Quality Management System in place at CCC and participate in the processes and procedures in the QMS ISO 9001:2015

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • May be subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • May be required to lift to 50 lbs.

  • Safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection required in manufacturing areas
