DFEMA Requirements System Engineer

We’re currently searching for a DFEMA Requirements System Engineer to join our team, and help us grow scale and continue our tradition of success.
As a DFEMA Requirements System Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of all component DFEMAs, following the System V model, assisting the project team in defining all product requirements for inputs into the DFEMA, supporting the team in PFEMA creation and creating DVP&R’s with the V&V team. You will be a documentation and requirements fiend and enjoy bringing structure and product requirements to our new product development process

Candidates that possess technical knowledge of vehicles, options and specifications are highly preferred

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop appropriate DFEMA’s and DVP&R test plans, conduct CAD model reviews, take design changes through the engineering change process, and generate appropriate BOM analysis and design feasibility for programs. DFA / DFM for products being proposed as solutions.
  • Responsible for all DFEMA creation & documentation management.
  • Review and interpret platform/project requirements focusing on functional product characteristics/customer-specific requirements and subsequently derive product technical proposals; support design engineers as necessary.
  • Develop and drive risk mitigation strategies utilizing DFEMA principles
  • Responsible for all DVP&R creation & management coordination with the Validation engineering team.
  • Manage open items list and drive items to closure.
  • Provides Systems Engineering requirement support to the other functional areas.
  • Responsible for supporting all systems feature planning on the project including test and verification plan.
  • Research regulatory compliance requirements for component and system FEMA requirements.
  • Responsible for adherence to compliance requirements (ISO26262/ASIL, FMVSS, etc.)
  • Decompose system performance and verification requirements and develop design verification plans & reports.
  • Ensure the design has been fully defined, traceable, and validated during testing down to the components and software from your DFEMA & DVP&R documentation creation.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., engineering, math, physics) with a minimum 5 years of applicable experience, fewer years required with an advanced degree
  • Expert level understanding of product development and validation methods (i.e. DFM, testing, FEA, DVP, DFMEA)
  • Strong skills in system/subsystem requirements development, design, and test
  • Ability to develop a system model within SysML tools (e.g., MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Visio)
  • Must be able to conduct and write test procedures & reports.
  • Highly motivated performer
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills is required

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and the ability to lead the development of MBSE implementation
