Software Controls Engineer - Communication Network

Candidates for consideration will be responsible for planning and delivering solutions for prototype communication networks, module interfaces & function as well as low voltage electrical system modifications. This requires proactive collaboration combined with technical focus and experience to deliver solutions for prototype systems that provide functionality.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create and manage new vehicle network and module integration solutions to support research and development of advanced control systems on test bench and in vehicle.
  • Lead network topology, including releasing/managing versions and managing interfaces & bandwidth allocation
  • Create custom gateway solutions, including CAN, LIN, Ethernet o Manage network communication modifications, including planning and implementing modifications required for DBC and ARXML files
  • Specify rapid prototype / secondary control modules and implementation plan Innovate creative solutions for supporting connected services in prototype applications
  • Work closely with vehicle systems team to coordinate with broader vehicle integration activities on LV electrical system, HMI etc.
  • Support planning, creation and testing of vehicle electrical & communications prototypes

Experience Required

  • 3+ years’ experience specifying and developing automotive communication & control networks
  • Demonstrated experience developing and evaluating CAN, LIN, Ethernet communications & networks, with knowledge of communication protocols (CMA, SOME/IP…)
  • Demonstrated experience creating custom gateway solutions (i.e. Intrepid, MABX…)
  • Experience with CAN/LIN/Ethernet tools and testing
  • Experience with DaVinci or similar low level communication software management tool(s)
  • Experience with version control and process automation tools (GitHub, Jenkins…)
  • Demonstrated effective communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and balance multiple tasks and timelines

Experience Preferred

  • Experience delivering innovative solutions in a research-based environment is highly desired.
  • Experience with the creation and execution of test plans, test scripts, and test automation and the generation of test reports is highly desired.
  • Experience modeling different layers of communication networks in simulation environments (SIL, HIL) is desired
  • Experience with Automotive CAN protocol specifications (J1979, UDS, J1939), LIN and SENT
  • Experience with high-level programming language (C, C++, Python, Matlab m-script) is desired
  • Experience with Connected vehicle development or testing is desired.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR standards and tools for automotive software development Raspberry Pi Analog circuit design experience

Qualification and Educational Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering is preferred.
