Systems Requirement Engineer

As a Systems Requirements Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of a groundbreaking platform, focusing on creating and managing comprehensive systems requirement documentation while working through the left side of the systems V-model. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a highly skilled team of engineers and contribute significantly to the success of an innovative new platform in the commercial vehicle industry.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Draft clear, concise, and testable requirements for system components, subsystems, and interfaces.
  • Research and derive requirements for systems where none are pre-defined, leveraging industry standards, best practices, and stakeholder input.
  • Conduct requirements analysis to identify gaps, conflicts, and ambiguities.
  • Maintain and update requirements documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage system-level requirements for electro-mechanical products, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, document, and validate system architecture and interfaces.
  • Utilize the V-model approach to ensure traceability from requirements through design, implementation, and validation.
  • Provide input to the Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) process based on defined requirements to identify potential failure modes and mitigation strategies.
  • Support the creation of Design Validation Plans (DVP) by aligning test objectives with system requirements and ensuring adequate coverage for validation.
  • Follow established systems engineering processes and industry best practices, ensuring consistency and quality in deliverables.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for requirements management and systems engineering methodologies.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders, ensuring requirements are understood and implemented correctly.
  • Present system requirements and designs to internal and external teams, facilitating feedback and revisions as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience with automotive electrical systems or electro-mechanical systems
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive system requirements working within the V-model
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience with failure analysis methodologies like FMEA and fault trees
  • Motivation to make complicated systems work together
  • Electric vehicle systems and hands-on integration testing experience
  • Great communication skills

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Systems or electromechanical experience with the following automotive systems is highly desired: HVAC, control devices, HMI (human-machine interface), and audio

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • May be subject to random drug and alcohol testing

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Safety glasses and steel-toed shoes and hearing protection (as necessary) required in manufacturing areas
