Maruti Suzuki intends to begin exporting EVs this year.

Regarding the export of battery modules and cells, Bharti stated, “We are sending them to developed nations like Europe. This fiscal year, we expect to export lithium-ion advanced chemistry cells, battery packs, and modules for close to INR 750 crore.”

A top company executive stated on Thursday that Maruti Suzuki India intends to begin exporting Electric Vehicles (EVs) from India this year following their launch in the nation. Additionally, this fiscal year, the company anticipates exporting lithium-ion battery cells and modules valued at about INR 750 crore. At the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit held here, Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director Rahul Bharti declared, “This year itself we will start exporting EVs to countries like Europe and Japan.”

Regarding the export of battery modules and cells, Bharti stated, “We are sending them to developed nations like Europe. This fiscal year, we expect to export lithium-ion advanced chemistry cells, battery packs, and modules for close to INR 750 crore.”

Automotive Electronics Power Private Ltd (AEPPL) — a joint venture between Japan’s TOSHIBA Corporation, Denso Corporation, and Suzuki Motor Corporation, operates a lithium-ion battery plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat.

Maruti Suzuki exports the models and cells it purchases from the joint venture. The business said on Thursday that it would invest INR 38, 200 crore to build a fourth line to the Suzuki Motor Gujarat facility and establish a second plant in Gujarat.

The yearly production capacity of Suzuki Motor Gujarat would increase from the current 7.5 lakh to 10 lakh units with the installation of a second plant with an installed capacity of 10 lakh units per year and a fourth line with an additional capacity of 2.5 lakh units per year.

The first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) from the Suzuki Group will be launched by Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year, according to Toshihiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor Corporation, who made the investment announcement on Wednesday.
